Prelude                                                                                                     Miriam Enman

Introit                                                                                                                             Through It All

Through it all, through it all,
I’ve learned to trust in Jesus,
I’ve learned to trust in God;
Through it all, Through it all,
I’ve learned to depend upon His Word.

Call to Worship (inspired by Psalm 146:5-10)                      From LiturgyBits by Tim Graves

Leader: Come and worship!
People: We will praise the One between, within, and over.

Leader: Trust in the One who co-creates the was, the now, and the will-be.
People: Our hope is in the One who creates expansive love calling us to do the same.

Leader: Follow the One who never breaks covenant.
People: We follow the One whose extravagant love calls us to co-create justice for the oppressed, feed the hungry, unlock prisons, and welcome strangers, orphans, and widows.

Leader: Praise the One whose justice is grace-full and inclusive.
People; We praise the Spirit that spans the ages. Amen!

Hymn                                                                                       Holy Spirit, Ever Dwelling

Holy Spirit ever dwelling
In the holiest realms of light
Holy Spirit ever brooding
O’er a world of gloom and night
Holy Spirit ever raising
Sons of earth to thrones on high
Living life imparting Spirit
Thee we praise and magnify

Holy Spirit ever living
As the Church’s very life
Holy Spirit ever striving
Through her in a ceaseless strife
Holy Spirit ever forming
In the Church the mind of Christ
You we praise with endless worship
For your fruit and gifts unpriced

Holy Spirit ever working
Through the Church’s ministry
Quickening strengthening and absolving
Setting captive sinners free
Holy Spirit ever binding
Age to age and soul to soul
In a fellowship unending
You we worship and extol

Prayer and Lord’s Prayer                                                                                                                                                by Ann Harbridge, DLM, Minister at Trinity Centennial United Church in Rosemont, Ontario.

O God, you come to us in unexpected places
In isolation, behind closed doors
On dusty roads, as we go from place to place
In video chats with friends and telephone conversations with loved ones.
You come bringing us peace, where there is no peace
You come bringing us hope when everything seems hopeless
You come bringing us courage when we are afraid.
Come and be among us now, in every place where we are.
Open our eyes to see you, open our hearts to know you.
In the name of the Risen Christ we pray:

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Gloria Patri

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen

P: Hear Our Prayer

Hymn                                                                                                     Lord, I Need You

Lord, I come, I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
Without You I fall apart
You’re the One that guides my heart

CHORUS: Lord, I need You, oh, I need You
Every hour I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
Where You are, Lord, I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
When I cannot stand I’ll fall on You
Jesus, You’re my hope and stay

You’re my one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You
My one defense, my righteousness
Oh God, how I need You

Text for the Message                                                                                  1 4:1-11 (NIV)

Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God.For the time that is past suffices for doing what the Gentiles want to do, living in sensuality, passions, drunkenness, orgies, drinking parties, and lawless idolatry. With respect to this they are surprised when you do not join them in the same flood of debauchery, and they malign you;but they will give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. For this is why the gospel was preached even to those who are dead, that though judged in the flesh the way people are, they might live in the spirit the way God does.

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Message

Hymn                                                                                                                 Pass It on

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to thee;
Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love,
At the impulse of thy love.

Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee;
Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King,
always, only for my King

Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages for thee;
Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold,
Not a mite would I withhold.

Take my love, my God, I pour
At thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself and will be
Ever, only, all for thee,
Ever, only, all for thee.

Benediction (Blessing)
